Billy Álvarez Hospitalized for Urgent Surgery

Billy Álvarez, former executive of Cruz Azul, was transferred from the Federal Social Reintegration Center Number One Altiplano (Almoloya de Juárez, State of Mexico) to undergo an emergency hip surgery at the Adolfo López Mateos Medical Center of the IMSS Bienestar State Coordination in the State of Mexico. A judge granted Guillermo 'N' a provisional suspension of amparo against the linking to process for organized crime and money laundering; however, this does not imply his release.

Billy Álvarez, detained in January and taken to the maximum security prison in Almoloya, remains hospitalized. "The suspension does not continue to the detriment of social interest nor does it contravene provisions of public order," stated the judge.

Guillermo 'N' was captured on January 16 in Mexico City and linked to process, with preventive detention for a period of four months for the investigation. Additionally, a second arrest warrant was executed against him. He is being investigated for organized crime and money laundering, with allegations of illicit resources and embezzlement from La Cruz Azul.

The provisional suspension granted orders to suspend the criminal procedure against Billy Álvarez once the intermediate stage is concluded, to resume it after the definitive suspension is resolved. The medical report revealed that Billy Álvarez underwent surgery for a fracture of the left hip, a serious injury that requires hospitalization.

The health condition of the former executive is delicate but stable, according to the director of the medical center. Investigations are underway regarding money movements from the cooperative to personal accounts abroad and alleged misappropriations of resources between 2011 and 2017 with fictitious companies.
